RE: yellowstone or grand canyon for first out west trip

Had the same issue when we planned our trip over a year ago. Went for Yellowstone and Mt Rushmore. Why well we decided we would go where the animals are. It was great I don't think 18 days with travel is enough. We spent 3 weeks and it just was not enough time. But we stuffed all we could into those 3 weeks, we can't wait to go back. My sister in law changed my mine, she had been to the GC but never yellowstone.

RE: Halloween at Fort Wilderness

We have a large group that goes the weekend before Halloween and all of the kids trick or treat in the loop we all stay in. This is done on our own not WDW, it is a great time. Yes a lot of people decorate their sites some more than others but it is nice to see what people have done. This is our 4th Halloween plus they have the wine fest at epcot for us big kids that can't have all the sweets!

RE: Does the 2008 Jeep Liberty accumulate mileage when towed?

Not sure if you are still looking for answers, but as a 2008 Jeep liberty owner, I can honestly say that after towing it some 6000 plus miles none of the towed miles are on the odometer. I do not disconnect the battery and have not not had any problems. We hook up with all the safety measures and off we go. It has been a great toad and if not for the camera I would not know it was there.

RE: Cummins Engine

Call the toll free number for cummins and with the ser.# they can tell you anything you want to know about your engine. Did this when I bought my 03 Dutch star.

RE: Fort Wilderness Premier sites?

If you don't need or want cable then no it's not worth the extra $$$$. Water parks are nice and WDW has several, yes they are redoing the pool at Fort Wilderness but I think they are starting it in the winter! Stay out of the 1900 loop, I know WDW is redoing their loops but unless they are filling in the low areas in this loop stay away!! The other areas are all good. Golf cart rental is a great way to get around the campground. We go every Oct. before Halloween great time!!

RE: weather - Yellowstone and Grand Tetons

Stayed at RV from 6/12-17 this year. Snowed on the 11th 6" 70's to upper 70's during the day would drop to the 30's at night. Nice RV park and the town was nice to walk around or ride your bikes. Enjoy your trip hope your day temps are higher since you are later in the summer!

RE: Toad covers or protectors

Yes I have mud flaps behind the rear tires along with the rock guard across the back of the coach. I guess that's why they call it a rock guard because it won't stop the pebbles! Someone posted somewhere that the covers on the front of the car allow sand and small pebbles to get underneath and grind the paint. Trying to see if this is the norm or an isolated case. If know one else has this problem then I will go with the coastline cover.

Toad covers or protectors

I would like to hear from the DP'ers since the rear engine set-up stirs more debris. If you use a cover to protect your toad have you found that sand and pebbles find their way under it? For those of us with rear engine exhaust if not using a cover what systems are you using? Currently not using anything and after 4000+ miles the front of the toad has many small chips and one in windshield! Like the underskirt style but will not work with my exhaust!

RE: help on colorado campgrounds

We stayed at Moutaindale which is outside of CS on 115 it's about 14 mi to CS town. Check their website and see reviews on rvparkreview. Staff was friendly as were other campers. They have trees no lakes or ponds, but sometimes you have deer and or a fox visiting the campground.

RE: 2008 Jeep Liberty

Yes to the brake, I have the SMI - Air Force 1 which worked great. you only have to hook up the airline from the coach to the front of the vehicle. Most states require it plus it's the safe thing to do. The even brake by Roadmaster will not fit the floor pan on the 2008 liberty!

RE: Breakdown Information

After being on our trip for several days and riding over some of our country's finest highways we lost the throttle pedal. Engine would go to idle and that was it. Or in our case as when I quickly tapped on the pedal it would resume normal operation or at least we thought. Oh did I mention this was during a down pour with winds gusting to 40 mph. We made it to our camping area but decided to call GS as we continued to have the same problem. If you let off on the pedal you did not know if you would have power or not when you stepped back on it! Roadside mechanic showed up what a waste of hard earned cash 30 min. of trouble shooting and 60 min. of BS. per his suggestions stopped in OK City which we were passing through to have repairs. A day and half later we left with a new computer and headed into another storm with tornado warnings. After 4 days of camping left for Yellowstone and made it north of Denver same problem except now it did it regardless of whether we were under power or not. Not sure if we could make it to a garage which we located about 9 mi. from where we were, so we called GS after waiting 45min for call-back we were told it would be 1-1/2-2hrs for tow truck. Yes we opted to limp along the interstate for 9mi this only took us 45 min. After another day and half camping at a garage a young mechanic found that 2 wires that go to the foot throttle had worn through and were causing a short. Which is what the engine computer was trying to tell them. Over 2500 miles later and no problems. Thanks to Charles at Transwest to troubleshoot the problem the right way.

2008 Jeep Liberty

Just got back from a western tour towing our Liberty towed this thing over 5000 miles. Some days we towed it for 8 hours some 500 plus miles. I did not have to disconnect the battery, speeds ranged from 0-70+ mph. After towing had no problems it started right up and ran fine, none of the problems that other people have posted.

RE: Newby question about toads

Most dollys are for front wheel drive vehicles! If your vehicle has a neutral position then you may be able to tow 4 down. I would check with GM to make sure that year is towable.

RE: jeep liberty 4x4..4 down

The answer to your question is Yes you can tow it. As others have mentioned you will need a braking system. Make sure if you get the box style that it will fit your floor pan on driver's side! Do the research, shop around and then what fits your needs is the best for you.

RE: SW FLORIDA TO BIRMINGHAM, AL

75 to 82 then to 280 did this with my 30' TT and will be doing it in my 40' DP in about a week and half. Roads are not bad and while you have traffic lights it's not bad.
